        for all of you.

for those who are but are not.

for those who believe love is just a chemical reaction.

for those who are nothing but static on the mainstream radio.

for those who will never know forever.

for those who live in the highs and lows of the roller-coaster ocean breeze.

for those who hurt themselves because they're afraid of hurting anyone else.

for those whose cries have been drowned by the summer rain.

for those who have been mistaken for God.

for those who battle a thousand soldiers of themselves just to find who they really are.

for those who are nothing but natural disasters.

for those who sink somewhere between electric blue oceans and shimmering rainbows of euphoria.

for those whose insanity makes poetry - and those whose poetry drives them insane.

for those who are weighed down by gravity.

for those who have found equilibria in a heart that is caught in a chain reaction of passionate apathy.

for those who wait for the classroom telephone to ring their eulogy.

for those who think God is just another love song.

for those who are nothing but needle eyes and inkless words.

for those who open the windows when it's raining, just to hear the whole world cry.

for those who leave and never return.

for those who forget it all on the ride home.

for those who love - and those who are loved.

_{i am from the world that ends in fire and ice.

i am from light and darkness, volcano and ash, living and dead. i am from all the words i've left unsaid, from the silence that speaks louder than the path i tread. i am from the poetry that i refuse to write, from the spaces between phrases that never turn out right.

i am from the one a.m. phone ringing, from "i love you, be okay." i am from the lungs that keep breathing, the heart that keeps beating as the ropes begin to fray.

i am from the earthquakes that pull california to the sea, from the arizona shore burning back at me. i am from a place i call home but have never truly known, from inside of the cage where my childhood played but never truly stayed.

i am from a tripping rhythm of self-expression, from quiet hunger and manic depression, in constant digression and possession and obsession and repression.

i am from electric oceans, oceans and oceans and oceans, repetition and repetition, the same words that spill over from my mind each and every time i write in a blistered rhyme that just won't keep in time.

i am from the elusive quiet mind that just won't come tonight.

i am from the world that ends in fire and ice.}

_{it is midsummer
and i am no more than seven
and my father hands me a dandelion,
ripe with seeds,
telling me simply,
"make a wish."

such innocence,
such naïve faith it takes
to believe that dreams
can be planted and harvested and won
by the seeds of a dandelion on the wind,

to believe that in
this childish form of prayer

the seeds will be carried to God
and whisper their secret wishes to Him
in unknown tongues
and that uttering the words they carry
to another soul down here on earth
will shatter them
before they arrive at His doorstep.

so i sit in silence
beside my father
and i wish

for world peace,
for familial peace,
for inner peace,

for pieces of peace
that i'll soon realize
it takes more than dandelion wishes
to achieve.}

You've got a great sense of style. In "seesaw:"

"setting fire to the

I have an idea why these lines work - they don't just evoke memories we all have, but they play with those memories, force us to imagine differently.
